(birthday pt 2)

birthday was good. cake went hard, i went to a hot topic with my family

the full haul (hot topic visit included):

• strawberry jam - animal collective (cd)
• scott pilgrim vs. the world (2010) (dvd)
• bomb rush cyberfunk steam wallet code (courtesy of a friend)
• kind of vampy earring pack
• little bracelet set thing including a small spiked cuff thing
• blind bag gir mini
• wind-up pocket watch (very excited about this one)
• mclovin and raven stickers
• bridgerton socks (because i ironically asked for the plates they just stocked at walmart for valentine's and my mom went above and beyond)
• bridgerton bath set (see above)
• very comfortable gir socks

one more thing has yet to arrive, a cd copy of sung tongs, but overall it was a good birthday. 10/10 would birthday again (and i expect to)

towards the end of the night my brother and i played some phas, he got his first ever perfect game and experienced professional mode for the first time, he got to see my truly phenomenal taste in memes, it was nice

so. beast update.

she beat hyperthyroidism for a second time. BEYOND proud of my daughter, i'm relieved that she's been doing well and am looking forward to many months of improved health from my precious little goblin

also the sung tongs cd came in! i ended up getting a used copy off amazon since it was the only one with free shipping, and as it turns out, it actually came all the way from a library in washington. it used to be a rental copy before i bought it. just found that interesting

planner for college came in and it's way bigger than i thought, but still pretty nice. i'm not actually attending till the fall semester, so that's gonna be squirreled away with my laptop till roughly august, but i like to be prepared.

in terms of other general life stuff, not a lot has happened. biggest thing is that last night there was a large discussion regarding a vampire: the masquerade thing that's been in the works for a few months, and that we're gonna be starting pretty soon!

that discussion, once over, eventually devolved into jokes about killing osama bin laden (it's gonna take place in 2003, so RIGHT at the start of the iraq war). then a longer discussion about how racism works in the MLP:FIM universe, which became an even LONGER discussion about how equestria is an apartheid state since not counting alicorns, unicorns are often the highest socially and are consistently the most racist despite being a kind of small population, and how they oppress everybody else. it was a whole thing.

super jazzed about V:TM though :)

love rewatching supernatural and being able to see three very glaring changes that happen when kripke leaves:

• the power scaling being absolutely FUCKED once they realized the winchesters were powerful enough to stop an apocalypse
• insane mangling of characters
• some of the cooler early-show effects like ghosts being defeated without their remains being burned just melting instead

it's a little jarring how smooth they were and the quality being so crunchy, but it just feels so weird coming back from where i left off with my mom, where the villain of the season is an alternate-dimension version of an archangel who ate the grace of a nephilim whose power was so great his actor's filmography lists his appearance in spinoffs as "god II," and then i return to the first season and the biggest threat they've ever faced is a demon who's like simon fairchild before simon fairchild and it feels so fucking weird but it's so much better than where we stopped

everything goes downhill after the showrunner leaves. it makes me feel so old watching demons get dropped like cannon fodder and thinking "back in MY day demons were so powerful that the presence of an angel felt like a massive thing! angels were even harder to fight than demons! the biggest threat was the biblical end times, not god himself having a familial spat"

like it's such a bad show but god it was so much better when the guy who made it was actually at the helm, it had a direction back then

post season 5, the only believable thing was the "god among men" reputation the winchesters got for the sheer amount of world-ending crises they stopped. like it was so much that death herself gave them a free pass to keep getting brought back.

played IMSCARED for the first time as of 2 days ago, with feffol as my witness/person there to make jokes and keep the vibe light so i don't punch a hole in one of my monitors. i did not go for the extended ending but i really liked it, it was good. meta-horror is not a genre i've really touched much over the years but it was very good. 10/10 would play again
